Mighty China

The most populous country in the world, China is home to more than 1.3 billion people. Its post-World War II history is one of bloody revolutions and economic instability. These images touch upon some of China’s most volatile years as the Community Party took control in 1949 and installed Chairman Mao Zedong as leader through to the Cultural Revolution of the mid-1960s.
